The Council
The anonymous curators who define what gets [ACCEPTED]
The Council is a rotating panel of anonymous cultural curators who collectively decide what gets [ACCEPTED] each month.
Composed of artists, designers, thinkers, and cultural leaders, The Council reviews submissions and votes on what truly represents the current cultural moment. Their identities remain pseudonymous, allowing them to make decisions free from external influence or pressure.
How It Works
- Rotating Membership: Council members serve for three-month terms, with staggered rotations to maintain continuity.
- Democratic Process: Each submission requires a majority vote to receive an [ACCEPTED] stamp.
- Transparent Decisions: While members remain anonymous, voting results are made public.
- Community Input: Members are selected partly based on community nominations and contributions to accept.media.
The Stamp System
The Council can bestow four different stamps on submissions:
- [ACCEPTED] — Publicly selected and anointed as defining the cultural moment
- [EARLY] — For ideas that show promise but are ahead of their time
- [NOT YET] — Honorable mentions that need refinement or broader adoption
- [REVOKED] — A rare decision to remove acceptance status from a previous selection
The Council operates on a majority vote system, ensuring that what gets [ACCEPTED] truly represents a consensus on cultural significance.
Council members come from various backgrounds, disciplines, and geographic locations to ensure a broad cultural perspective.
Members serve limited terms, ensuring fresh perspectives and preventing stagnation in what gets recognized.
The Council doesn't just pick what's popular—they identify what's meaningful and representative of our cultural moment.
